11.29Scale Olympics
This is an off year for Scale Olympics – an amazing event that gives students the opportunity to set goals in the areas of Scales, Cadences, Arpeggios, Triads, Harmonization, Transposing, Sight Reading and Theory. Each event is offered at eight levels of difficulty so all students – even beginners – can participate. Students are awarded ribbons for each event they enter. Students entering all eight events have the opportunity to receive one of the two top awards.
Date: Saturday, December 4, 2010
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

An error has been discovered on the Fingering Chart in the Scale Olympics Handbook.
The error is in the left hand of the g#(ab) harmonic minor scale. The fingering listed is: 3213214 32132143
The correct fingering should be the same as the c# harmonic minor scale:
3214321 32143213
The judges will be instructed to accept either fingering for the g#(ab) harmonic minor scale for the 2008 Scale Olympics. The fingering will be changed the next time the Handbook is updated. In the meantime, please make this change in your Handbook.
