SCALE OLYMPICS 2010

Saturday, December 4 • Otterbein College • Westerville, Ohio

Scale Olympics is an amazing event that gives students the opportunity to set goals in the areas of technique and theory.  Students may enter any number of the eight events offered:  Scales, Cadences, Arpeggios, Triads, Harmonization, Transposing, Sight Reading and Theory.  Each event is offered at eight levels of difficulty so all students – even beginners – can participate.  Students are awarded ribbons, based on points, for each event they enter. Students entering all eight events have the opportunity to receive one of the two top awards.  The Blue Rosette is awarded to students receiving Blue Ribbons in all eight events; and the Yellow Rosette is awarded to students with 104 or more points.  The Scale Olympics Handbook has all of the requirements and information you need to prepare your students for this event.

Lead Sheet Harmonization

We are thrilled to present a Lead Sheet Harmonization option for Scale Olympics 2010.  We have not replaced the traditional Roman Numeral harmonization that we have used in the past.  You may still use it and it is still in the Handbook. But you now have a choice between Harmonization Option 1 (Traditional) and Harmonization Option 2 (Lead Sheet).
